Delhi: Netaji Subash Chandra Bose driver Colonel Nizamuddin took his last breath at the age of 117.  He passed away in his native Azamgarh district.  He was born in 1901 and worked as a driver for Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

Nizamuddin has been a close associate of Netaji between 1943 and 1945.  He left the world on Monday.  He is survived by his wife Ajbul Nisha, three sons and two daughters.  Many biggies paid respects to Nizamuddin through social platform twitter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took to twitter and paid his last respects to Nizamuddin and expressed his condolence over his death to his family.  On Tuesday, Modi said Subhas Chandra Bose’s driver Colonel Nizamuddin, added strength to India’s freedom struggle.  He also said that he will always be remembered for his idealism, courage, and patriotism.

Prime Minster Modi tweeted on Nizamuddin death saying ‘his demise is saddening.’

He tweeted “Tributes to Subhas Babu’s close associate, Colonel Nizamuddin. I recall my meeting with him. His demise is saddening,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

Modi tweeted a picture of Modi and Nizamuddin and wrote the above tweet on his twitter page.  The picture depicts Modi touching the feet of Nizamuddin for blessings.

He added, “We will always remember the idealism, courage & patriotism of Colonel Nizamuddin, which added strength to our freedom struggle.”

Colonel Nizamuddin alias Saifuddin is a prominent member of Azad Hind Fauj

Nizamuddin is also called as Saifuddin was a close aide to Netaji and an important member of Azad Hind Fauj during the time of freedom movement.  He was currently living in Dhakwa village in Mubarakpur area in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh with his wife and youngest son.

Nizamuddin passed away on Monday morning at the age of 117.  The Telegraph report says that after the freedom movement, he returned from Myanmar to India for several decades till he took his last breath.

Nizamuddin, who worked as a driver for Netaji for two years also accompanied Bose during his trips to various countries like Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
