Punjab Assembly Election 2017On Wednesday the EC (Election Commission) made an announcement that the State of Punjab is all set for polling on February 4, 2017. This is what the Tweet said, “Goa will hold elections on Feb 4; Punjab will vote on The Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi addressed a press conference about the Punjab Assembly Elections 2017 on Wednesday. He said that the polls will take place in a single phase. He also said that the last date to withdraw nominations is January 18, 2017. Other dates include January 19, 2017, for scrutiny of candidates and January 21, 2017, for withdrawal of candidates.

The EC will enforce the recent SC ruling on religion while polling in all polling states as well as the state of Punjab. This western state of India recently witnessed quite some reshuffling from politics in the last few months. Political parties are all gearing up to take control of the State of Punjab from the ruling SAD-BJP alliance.

He termed it “deliberate ploy” on the Badal government’s instigation allowing armed goons to “terrorise” people in the polls run up. He said, to “pressurise them to vote for the Akali Dal.”
