Sudarshan Pattnaik is a well-known artist who mastered the art of creating sand structures. He previously did several such sand creations. Now he has made a mark in the Guinness World Record. This is for making the World’s Largest Sand Castle.
His sand creation was certified as Largest Sand Castle in the World. He broke the previous record created in the United States back in the year 2015 with the new set record. He did this large sand model on February 10, 2016, on Friday on Puri Beaches in Odisha state.
Indian Breaks Previous Guinness World Record with 48-foot sandcastle
Sudarshan Pattnaik spent his life on the beaches of Puri building sand castles and sculptures. He does these on almost all significant occasions. These include the country’s Independence Day, Republic Day and World Cancer Day too. There is some well-known nation causes too that he has made these sand sculptures on. One example is the recent Swachh Bharat Mission.
The last record of the World’s Largest Sand Castle was made in a week’s time. However, this talented sand sculptor built his sand castle within just four days. Thirty other members belonging to the Sudarshan Sand Art Institute helped him in building the structure. He set up this art school to guide those interested in sand sculpting. He started the art school as he never received guidance as sand art was not recognized art form back then.
With the joint effort under his guidance, they successfully built the sand castle with the theme “World Peace.” This stood 48 feet and eight inches in height. The castle finished on Friday, February 10, was certified by Guinness World Records as “The Tallest Sand Castle Built in the World to Date”. Nitin Bhanudas Jawale who is the director of Odisha Tourism Department said that the structure will be allowed to stand through the weekend. He said this would be to promote tourism in Puri and also for the rest of the state of Odisha.
