Sega has always had a difficult time selling consoles. As of 2001, they dropped out of the console war, and until this summer, stopped producing consoles. What exactly is on the way this summer? Well, Pocket-lint found Sega's next "console", and it is incredibly similar to the Nintendo Wii.
Seemingly in attempts to create a demand for a console, instead of having another of Sega's brainchildren fizzling out like the Genesis or Dreamcast, they have decided to go with a sure thing in the Sega Zone.
The Sega Zone doesn't bother the consumer by forcing them to buy costly software, but instead, built all the games you'll ever need right in. The Sega Zone comes with 20 Sega Genesis games, and 30 other games. 16 of those other games (ranging from table tennis, to bowling, and golf) are motion controlled, using a very Wii Remote-esque controller. After all, the Wii is madly popular, so anything like the Wii will surely do as well....right?
Imitiations of the Wii are nothing new. Shortly after the large amounts of success that Nintendo found back at the console's release, plenty of companies attempted to create cheap imitations of the console, including the MiWi and the Vii.
Still want one? Look for it on store shelves this summer. |
