Woman Says "Wii Fit Saved My Life"

By Ian Mikutel / Monday, 01 February 2010

38 year old Lara Roberts lost 112 pounds through daily use of Wii Fit and healthy eating. The results have been so dramatic she is set to appear on a BBC3 documentary, "I'm Hotter Than My Daughter".

Lara Roberts Wii Fit Saved Life

According to News of the World, prior to her Wii Fit regime, the mother of two had difficulty doing simples tasks such as going up stairs, and said she felt like a "beached whale". Now, however, Lara says it is a new beginning for her.

"I feel like I've been reborn," says Roberts of Farnborough, Hants.

After having her second daughter eight years ago, Roberts was never able to shed the extra baby weight. Soon after, she began eating comfort food, amounting to over 4,000 calories a day.

"I'd have a cooked breakfast most days and cheese sandwiches and pizza for lunch...And I snacked constantly on biscuits and crisps and cakes and got through litres of fizzy drinks a day. Nothing could fill me up."

Roberts explained how her weight gain was even effecting her relationship with her husband.

"I used to cringe when my husband Steve touched me, I felt horribly self-conscious and used to get breathless in bed from exertion."

Finally, when a friend told her in 2008 that she "never stopped eating", Roberts purchased Wii Fit and began a strict daily exercise and diet regime, waking up at 5am to workout.

"I knew if I didn't do something, chances are I wouldn't live to see my girls grow up," she says.

Apparently, Roberts regime payed off. One year later, she went from 252 to 140 pounds. She now is planning to appear in BBC3's documentary "I'm Hotter Than My Daughter" next month.

"I've become a real exhibitionist...And the best thing is the improvement in my sex life.

As far as I'm concerned the Wii Fit saved my life."

While her drastically improved nutrition probably accounted for a good portion of her weight loss, Roberts credits Wii Fit with providing her a way to workout without public scrutiny.
