Nintendo's Worldwide Wii Sales Near 70 Million

Nintendo has now reported financial results for the nine months through December 2009, revealing new worldwide sales numbers for both Wii hardware and software sales.

According to Nintendo, over 67 million Wii consoles have been sold to date worldwide. Looking forward, Nintendo expects to sell 20 million Wii consoles in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010.

On the software side, Nintendo reported sales of over 509 million Wii games. To date, Wii Sports Resort has sold 13.5 million copies, New Super Mario Bros. Wii 10.55 million and Wii Fit Plus 10.16 million.

Updated region sales numbers were also provided, with Wii hardware sales in America totaling 32 million, Japan 9.7 million and all other regions combined for 25.7 million.
