Nintendo President Satoru Iwata revealed that 100 million Miis have been created by Wii users since the system's launch in November 2006.

Speaking at a game seminar presentation, Iwata broke the milestone number down a bit more, saying Japanese Wii owners created 20 million Miis, while American Wii owners created 80 million.

With worldwide sales of Wii over 65 million according to VGChartz, some claim the 100 million Mii number seems low. However, it is important to note that these numbers were as of December 4, before the 2009 holiday season in which Nintendo sold nearly one-fifth of all US Wii's since the system's launch. The figure also doesn't include any Mii's created outside Japan and North America, including Europe, Australia, and mainland Asian.

Assuming roughly 35 million Wii consoles between Japan and America, that means each Wii owner has created about three Miis.
