86-Year-Old Bowling Virtuoso Rolls 40 Perfect Wii Games

Jack Davis, 86-year-old resident of the Hearth & Home assisted living community in Vandalia, Ohio, can beat you at video games.  Specifically, Davis can be considered a legend at Wii Sports Bowling, a game he boasts 40 perfect games in.

As any gamer knows, enough practice and technique at Wii Sports can result in a perfect game or two.  Davis bowling a 300 on 40 separate occasions is a whole other story.

"What I like about it (Wii bowling) is, if you find a spot you can stay on all the time, you can get a pretty good score," Davis said. "And, you get 300 once and a while."

Perfect games don't come by too often.  Davis can attest to that, as he's played 4,300 games of Wii Sports Bowling to reach that achievement.  So, Davis sets the bar low for himself when he plays.

"Every time I bowl, I try to break 200," Davis said. "But, a lot of times, I don't."

His son, Scott, often battles him for Wii Sports supremacy.  Not surprisingly, even he can't top the Wii Sports king.

"We meet every Wednesday to bowl a few games... he usually beats me, but I keep trying to take him," Scott said.

Ultimately, Davis wishes he could translate his skills to the real game.

"I bowled when I was younger, but not like this.  If I bowled like this when I was league bowling in 1963, then I'd be a millionaire."

Stat breakdown

Davis has played 4300 games since he moved to Hearth & Home of Vandalia in August 2007.  That means .93% of the games he's played are perfect games.

TcNewsnet reports that the assisted living community acquired the Nintendo Wii shortly after Davis arrived in August 2007.  Through the end of 2009 then, Davis has averaged about 153.6 games per month, or 4-5 games per day.
