MadWorld director, Shigenori Nishikawa, has expressed strong interest in creating a MadWorld 2 sequel for Wii. These comments contrast recent words by Sega of America's Constantine Hantzopoulo, who said that the publisher is unlikely to make more mature games for Nintendo's console.
"I think MadWorld was very well received and was acknowledged for its innovative graphical style and gameplay," Nishikawa told Official Nintendo Magazine. "We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future."
Nishikawa continued by saying he believed the Wii is "a very well-balanced piece of hardware," making it a great fit for a game like MadWorld.
Despite Sega's recent hesitation with mature Wii titles, they have expressed interest in turning MadWorld into a franchise if it "resonates with the audience". According to Hantzopoulos, "[MadWorld is] doing okay and at the end of the day we'll make our numbers, that's good".
Could we see a MadWorld 2 soon? Will Sega publish it? Time, and sales data, will tell. Let us know if you'd want to play a MadWorld sequel in the comments below. |
