Just four months after the games release, Nintendo says it has stopped distribution of the Metroid Prime: Trilogy Collector's Edition. A company representative told blog Coffee with Games the only way to find the title is now through the second-hand market.
"Unfortunately, Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer being shipped. Having said that, you may be able to find what you seek through the secondhand video game market," Nintendo said.
When pressed for why such a short run of the game was done, Nintendo declined to say. "When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability. However, a reason for this was not announced. That being said, you may still be able to locate a copy via stores that specialize in previously played or used games."
The game is the first in Nintendo's New Play Control! series to be discontinued. The series is an offering of GameCube games by Nintendo that have been upgraded with graphical improvements, 16:9 widescreen support, and reconfigured controls to fit the Wiimote. Other titles in this series include "Donkey Kong Jungle Beat", "Pikmin", "Pikmin 2", "Mario Power Tennis", and "Chibi-Robo!". |
