An anonymous source says Konami is currently planning to release a Castlevania collection for the Wii and PSP this year, reports Nintendo Life.
The source reports that the compilation will not be for Virtual Console, but instead a disc-based release that will feature all of the 8-bit and 16-bit installments in the Castlevania series.
Rumors are that this may even include the 32-bit, highly acclaimed title "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night", currently available on Sony's PSP but unavailable to Nintendo fans.
Another rumored title in the collection is "Castlevania: Rondo of Blood", released for Japan's Virtual Console in April of 2008, but still unavailable in North America.
The source says it is unlikely that the two Nintendo 64 Castlevania games will be featured in the collection, likely due to them fetching higher dollar on the Virtual Console in separate future releases. The source also claims the three GBA installments in the series are unlikely to appear in this collection.
Will this rumor see the day of light? For Konami, it may make business sense. With Hideo Kojima's upcoming "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" bringing renewed interest to the Castlevania series, a collection may be the perfect cash in.
