After widely-publicized comments by Capcom's director general in France, Antoine Seux, in which he said that "gamers have obviously moved on" from the Wii, the publisher is now correcting the record.

"Further to comments made in a recent article on French website Gamekult, Capcom would like to confirm its commitment as a multi-platform developer and publisher of interactive software," the company told media outlets in a statement.
Seux's original comments came as he cited low sales of "Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles" as proof that Wii gamers aren't interested in core, mature titles. Seux compared the games first-month sales of 16,000 to that of 2007's "Resident Evil 4", which sold 140,000 units in the same amount of time.
Capcom's controversial comments about the Wii come on the heels of the publisher and Nintendo signing a distribution deal identifying Monster Hunter Tri as a key title for the Wii platform in 2010. This deal had Capcom Europe's PR team "excited about partnering with Nintendo", so to many Seux's comments appear off base--most likely why the publisher issued a statement setting the record straight.
