Although this news won't come as a shock to most of you, an HD-enabled Wii could be coming as soon as 2011. Speaking with the Financial Times, Yoichi Wada, chief executive officer of Square Enix, expects the successor to the Wii will be launched sometime in 2011 and would be called Wii HD.
Along with the launch year, he also expects functionality more akin to Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3, as well as a possible new controller. Although Wada is playing analyst at this point, it is notable to mention that he isn't the first developer to mention the Wii's successor. Suda 51 has also stated that the third game in the No More Heroes franchise will be on the next Nintendo console.
