At Nintendo's E3 press conference, gamers got a small glimpse into the future of the Metroid series. Unexpectedly, it is partly in the hands of Team Ninja, and looks to take the franchise in new and unexplored directions.
For some time after Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, many have wondered if the hints in the game and elsewhere mentioning "Metroid Dread" would come to be a new game in the series, possibly bringing it back to its 2D roots. The news here is that this is still possible, it just isn't Other M.
Kotaku asked Metroid series director Yoshio Sakamoto if Metroid: Other M is Dread incarnate, to which his translator responded, "He's very familiar with that [game,]... No, this is different. The day may come when Dread hits the stores, but this one is something that's completely different. This is other M."
Aren't we all welcome to more Metroid? And while we're on the topic of Other M, who do we think that girl is from the trailer? Speculate while checking out the screens below.
