Who would have thought that Metroid would be mentioned during a third party showcase? Well that is exactly what happened when the new Metroid game, Metroid: Other M, was announced to be in production while collaborating with Team Ninja, those behind the Ninja Gaiden games. They decided to work with Team Ninja because they wanted to create an "adult Metroid" game.
A new trailer was also dropped (above), showing off Samus in both her suit, and in normal attire, walking around a space station. A lot of gameplay was showcased in third-person perspective, traditional to a Ninja Gaiden game, before it jumped in visor, into the traditional Metroid viewpoint. There are also a lot of cinematic elements to the game, with intense action sequences including familiar enemies like Ridley, exchanging blows with Samus. There was also an apparent focus on 2-D elements that created Metroid in the first place.
One thing is for sure, with the difficulty of both Metroid games, and Ninja Gaiden series, this will be no walk in the park. |
