Toys R Us Selling Wii Demo Disc

When I was much younger, demo discs were fairly common.  Sony always released the Playstation Jampack disc, chock full of game demos, trailers, and easter eggs that helped hype the next game you'd consider purchasing.  I'd play the Bloody Roar 2 demo time and time again, knowing the $5 purchase (roughly) wasn't wasted.

Skip forward (as Ian likes to say) to 2009, and Toys R Us is now selling a demo disc for Activision's games for $7.99.  Titled the "Demo Action Pack," the disc boasts five demos and bonus trailer content for a small price.  Games included are:

• Big League Sports
• Dancing With the Stars: We Dance!
• Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
• Monkey Mischief!  Party Time
• Shrek's Carnival Craze

Gaming Target notes that the disc has been available since February in promotional giveaways.  They also report that Nintendo has never sold an official demo disc compilation for any of their systems.

Demo discs were a huge part of gaming on the Playstation for me.  Hopefully kids today can get that same experience of being able to taste many different games without emptying their parents' wallets.

Update: It appears that Toys R Us has taken down the demo compilation from their retail listings, although it still appears in a Wii console bundle here.
