While There's no confirmation on whether Masachika Kawata is involved in this project, one thing is for sure: the 1.5 million Wii gamers that bought Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition may not be so happy with this news.
Japanese magazine Famitsu announced a new game in the series called "Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles" for the Wii. The game will continue the Umbrella Chronicles sub-series, but will take place in the world of Resident Evil 2.
Considering the rising amount of on-rail shooters that the Wii is attracting, the news isn't much of a shock. Since this game is likely to come to the states, this may be an indicator that a Resident Evil 2 remake is on its way as well. Even more likely is that this is the RE2 remake we've been wanting, just bottled-up in an on-rails format.
Regardless, it also seems that there are more announcements on the way in the Resident Evil realm. Product Manager Matt Dahlgren said that on March 12 a new announcement would make a fan of Resident Evil: Code Veronica "very pleased." He added that this new announcement will not be a PSN or XBLA remake. Considering The Darkside Chronicles is set in the RE2 universe, could we see multiple Resident Evil games on the way to the Wii? Will we get to use the Nunchuk to move in any of them? I hear people like that.
I feel like we've been through this before. Anyone excited for a new light gun Resident Evil game?
