EA Unfazed By Wii MotionPlus Confusion

By Andrew Clark / Monday, 02 March 2009

Ever since the announcement of Wii MotionPlus last year, few developers have gotten behind the idea more than EA. Electronic Arts has been quick to integrate the new peripheral, especially in its sports titles (and almost in Dead Space). It was interesting to note that with a possibility of delay for the unveiling of the new peripheral, EA remained stalwart in keeping Wii MotionPlus functionality in their games.

Last year, when MotionPlus was announced, it was also stated that the peripheral would be initially released as a pack-in with Wii Sports Resort. When sites like Kotaku released Nintendo's second quarter schedule of 2009, Wii Sports Resort seemed to have mysteriously vanished. Being that it is Nintendo, they have not commented either way on the rumor of a delay for the game. Now there is confusion on whether or not there is a delay for Wii Sports Resort, and if so, if that means Wii MotionPlus will be delayed as well.

EA remained unshaken by such rumors, and will release both Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, and EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis with MotionPlus compatibility. EA Sports' PR head, David Tinson even commented, "They will ship with the functionality, regardless of when WMP comes to market." Both EA titles will be ready to release this summer, regardless of when MotionPlus is.
