So how exactly do you play a Wii game without a wiimote? Yuji Naka, the man behind NiGHTS and the Sonic series, wants to show you how, with what he hopes is his next stroke of genius. Let’s Tap does involve wiimotes, but in no other capacity than to tap. This collection of minigames hopes to set itself apart from the others with this unique control style, and recently Joystiq had some hands-on time with the title.
What Joystiq found was that despite Let’s Tap’s charm and uniqueness, it is a bit on the shallow side. There are four different modes in the game, two of which Joystiq played. The two Joystiq played were Tap Runner and Silent Blocks. Tap Runner is a minigame requiring you to tap to make your character jump, and race against other players. Jumping from object to object, the goal is to finish with the fastest time by avoiding hindrances. Silent Blocks, is essentially a Jenga type game, where the speed of your tapping impacts how fast you pull out the blocks. The other two games that Joystiq did not play were Rhythm Tap, a rhythm game, and bubble voyager. |
