Hudson Soft Unleashes an Onslaught of Help Wanted

By Andrew Clark / Thursday, 19 February 2009

Hudson Soft has had a moderately strong offering of games for the Wii. Despite some of the offerings lacking in quality (yes you Wing Island), some have made up for a poor critical showing by becoming popular hits, like Deca Sports. Hudson hopes to continue support for the Wii (with hopefully higher quality games), and recently stopped by to give some hands-on time to the people over at 1UP.

Hudson came sporting two games, which could not be anymore different than each other. The first game was a WiiWare title called Onslaught. This title is an action/ sci-fi first-person shooter, involving using large weapons to shoot even larger robot insects. Weapons range from traditional shotguns and machine guns, to the more unique weapons such as the plasma whip. In Onslaught, players will play through a story that involves missions of various kinds, all centered on repelling these robotic insects. 1UP touted the game for being one of the first pick-up-and-play FPSs.

The second game Hudson brought about was yet another disc-based minigame collection for the Wii. This one, entitled Help Wanted, was one where the player completes many different jobs for those who need help. There are fifty different jobs, all ridiculous, and seem to give off an almost Warioware-esque vibe, where the goal is to entertain through comedy.  Anything ranging from a cow milker to a red carpet interviewer is fair game in this odd assortment of jobs.

While Onslaught is out in Europe, neither game has a solid release date stateside, other than by the end of this year.
