Job Posting May Hint at BioShock 2 for Wii

By Mike Suszek / Monday, 16 February 2009

bioshockIn a job posting at Gamasutra, 2K Games is seeking a UI Programmer to work on the anticipated follow-up to BioShock.  The requirements list things like experience working with the Unreal engine, flash integrations, multi-platform projects, and experience for "next-generation game consoles (PS3, XBOX 360, Wii)."

After hearing that a programmer is being sought in association with BioShock 2 that requires experience with the Wii, how can't you assume that BioShock 2 will then be traversing to the Nintendo side of this generation?  Actually, the very same job listing seems to tone down this rumor.

First, the summary of the position is simply "Develop, write, implement, and debug code for the UI on next-generation video game projects."  With the plural "projects," as TWG News hints at, could indicate that the Wii side of this position wouldn't really happen until after work on BioShock 2 is completed.  After all, 2K is likely looking to hire a Programmer for more than one game, right?  Additionally, this position deals with UI in general.  Could this job have one programmer working on in-game menus?

If you would like to see the new BioShock come to the Wii, perhaps it would help your cause to note that the requirement to have experience on all three platforms falls under the "highly desired" category for additional experience.

For now, it's a rumor.  A very interesting one, at that.
