Majesco, known for the Cooking Mama series, announced their new brand of Wii games, titled "Go Play" yesterday. Their aim is to unify a series of energetic games that utilize the Wii's motion control capabilities in unique ways. Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations says:
"The Go Play brand is intended to deliver on the promise of active, fun, family friendly game experiences... Our first three products intermix every day activities with imagination to define an overarching label that means ‘motion-based fun for everyone.'"
The brand of games will begin with three games, the first set for a late spring release. This first game is Go Play Lumberjax, a multiplayer party game that has players using their remotes to "chop, climb, saw and logroll to victory in more than 15 fun outdoor events." A lumber-jacking game for Wii? Where have I heard this before?
The other two Go Play games are Go Play City Sports and Go Play Circus Star, in which gamers will play six classic games on "street courts" and perform 15 different circus games for crowds, respectively. Go Play City Sports is expected for a summer release, whereas Go Play Circus Star is anticipated for a fall release.
All three games will be balance board compatible, although there's no word yet on other features, such as Mii-integration. But if I could make a guess on what Go Play Lumberjax will be like, I'd say something like this:
