Octuplet Mom Gets a Wii (UPDATE)

Everyone remember the big news about the mother of six giving birth to octuplets?  That's fourteen kids.  And it sounds like they'll be sharing four remotes now, too.

According to NY Daily News, the octo-mom Nadya Suleman went shopping Wednesday for a Wii.  Also according to the Daily News staff, Nintendo's home console retails for $559.96.  Now, we've heard pricing mistakes in articles before, but I'm more curious about this: where does the 96 cents come from?

The site also goes on to note that Suleman began a "colorful heart-covered website soliciting donations for herself and her gigantic brood."  The site, "thenadyasulemanfamily.com" seems like a deliberate attempt to rake in the cash like other big families to support said families.  After all, she accepts Paypal, and all forms of credit card at that.

It may seem that suleman is soliciting her situation to not only support her children, but buy video games.  Although she notes in an NBC interview that "I'm not receiving help from the government. I'm not trying to expect anything from anybody. I just wanted to do it on my own."  She sounds optimistic, for just birthing eight children in January with $50,000 in debt and no job.

Here's to hoping the kids will get all the $130.96 Wii games they can.  I wonder if she'll put their friend code on her website?

Update - It seems that NY Daily News updated their article with the correct, $250 console price tag.  Their update?  "The Wii retails for about $250. The controllers she was eye cost about $40. If she buys one for all 14 kids, that will addup to about $560."

Yes, I hope they buy 14 Wii Remotes.  For those still counting, the remotes themselves would cost $560, making the grand total $810.  Math is fun!
