Wii in Nursing Home... Stolen

By Mike Suszek / Tuesday, 06 January 2009

hamburglerwiiNormally we hear stories about the Wii being used for rehab, and to entertain the elderly.  Not here, oh no.  It seems that a Wii being used in a nursing home in Ottawa, OH was swiped by two applicants looking for a job at the home.

Witnesses were able to identify the crooks and recovered the Wii, which houses the Putnam Acres Care Center's favorites, "Wii bowling and baseball."  The name of the article itself is "Wii game goes missing from Ohio nursing home."

Is that not cringe-worthy enough?  The State Journal-Register of Springfield, IL reported in mid-December that a thief broke into a Bruns Lane home and stole "a Nintendo Wii valued at $360."  While I'm not certain how the Wii itself is valued that high, it is confirmed that damage done to the back door of the home is estimated at $50.

Hopefully this story can serve as the origin for the phrase, "Like taking a Wii from the elderly."
