In a press event Tuesday, Atari announced some big things coming to Wii, Techradar reports (via 1up). Alongside the new Ghostbusters game and the revamp of the Ready 2 Rumble series, Atari will be publishing a new Wii game by Q Entertainment, led by Tetsuya Mizuguchi. Mizuguchi is best known for his work with cult hits like Rez and Space Channel 5.
Although the details on the game are slim (meaning that is literally all we know), gamers can have faith in Mizuguchi's work. Q Entertainment is responsible for excellent games like Lumines, Meteos, and Every Extend Extra Extreme.
As if this weren't enough, Atari announced that they will release a boxed compilation of Tetsuya's great works, "including Rez HD (seen above), Lumines Live and Every Extend Extra Extreme, called Q3 ("Cubed")." What platform these will appear on and which games being included is up in the air currently, but many of them would certainly feel at home on the Wii. Just like a Wii version of Portal would (hint, hint, Valve).
But let's change gears for a second, what is going on with Atari? It appears that Phil Harrison is working his magic as head honcho. Between Atari and SEGA, Wii owners have a lot to be thankful for in the next year. Ironically, Mizuguchi worked with SEGA some time ago, where Rez and Space Channel 5 were given birth. Funny how things work out, eh? |
