The National Resources Defence Council (NRDC) recently did a study showing the power consumption of the current trio of game consoles and found the Wii to be the most eco friendly of the 3 gaming options.
Now this may not be a suprise, considering the graphical prowess of the XBOX 360 and PS3, however the margin that the Wii comes in at is. The Wii clocks in at 17 watts of power in active mode, compared to the 360's 119 watts and PS3's 150 watts. That's 7 and 10 times more, respectively.
To show just how little power the Wii actually consumes, I created a list of other common household appliances to compare with from ABSAK.com.
So playing the Wii for 1 hour consumes only a fraction more than it would shaving (although if it takes you an hour to shave, you probably have other things to worry about). So this year, your electronic conservation for the sake of global warming, may be as easy as playing Mario Kart instead of Halo.
