SEGA Europe announced today that they will be releasing the "red hot" Collector's Edition for The House of the Dead: OVERKILL for Wii, only in PAL territories.  This edition arrives in a collector's slipcase alongside an exclusive, "adult-only" comic.

The graphic novel included, called "Prelude to an OVERKILL," which tells the stories of Agent Washington and Varla Gunns before the game's events.  Interestingly, the comic is illustrated by Steve Copter, of the U.K. punk band "Black Mekon."  It seems like U.K. Wii gamers have some cool goods they can get their hands on.

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL focuses on telling the origins of the House of the Dead and its horrors.  With gameplay mechanics like using the ability to slow down time to get accurate headshots, having a "battle screen" that allows players to move around more, and motion control for melee attacks, this game could appease many appetites.  The game has a grindhouse-inspired atmosphere, emphasized by the excellent graphics and use of unique scratchy and grainy filters.  Additionally, there is a two-player, single screen offline co-op mode that

In an interview with IGN back in August, Neil McEwan, Headstrong Games Producer, commented on the state of Wii games and what they plan on doing with this Wii-exclusive to bring it back around for core gamers:

"There's a lot of Wii fans worried about the decline of decent hardcore games on the system... we are making something you are going to have a complete blast playing. We are making it with a nod to one of the greatest arcade series of all time and we hope you'll just purely enjoy teaming up with buddies and posting those high scores on the forums with the rest of us."

McEwan also did well to note that the game will retain other elements of a 70's grindhouse movie, complete with laughably bad dialogue, gruesome melee effects, and over-the-top gore.  With the way the game is looking now, and the prospect of an exclusive graphic novel for European pre-orders, SEGA seems to have added another game to the list of 2009 must-haves for Wii.  Check out the videos and decide if it is on your list!
