Konami Ships Castlevania Judgement

By Mike Suszek / Tuesday, 18 November 2008

Konami announced that they have shipped Castlevania Judgement, the controversial Wii fighter, to North American retailers today.  The 3-D fighting game features numerous characters from the series' 22-year history, with both online and offline multiplayer available.

Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, notes that "with gorgeous characters and rendered 3D graphics, Castlevania Judgment takes full advantage of the Wii console. Players utilize the Wii Remote and Nunchuk capabilities to swing and throw objects, creating an immersive experience that is only possible on the Wii."

The game makes wise use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk's motion sensing capabilities in the game's fighting mechanic.  Plus, with a series of environmental stages to battle on, players can use their surroundings to their advantage; whether it be in creating weapons, gaining health, setting traps, and calling out monsters to defeat their enemy.  Castlevania Judgement also contains both online and offline versus multiplayer modes (two player only), and the unique ability to unlock gameplay elements by wirelessly linking the game with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for Nintendo DS.

Although the title brings generations of characters together, it also introduces a few new characters into the mix.  And with notable absences in Soma and Richter Belmont one would wonder if there are plans for downloadable content in the future.  Castlevania Judgement is rated T by the ESRB, and is retailing in North America for $49.99.

Tonight we will post trailers and gameplay videos for your enjoyment, stay tuned!
