Wii Sports Resort Announced

By Skylar Wilcox / Tuesday, 15 July 2008
Since the Wii's launch, its most-played game is likely still Wii Sports, due in no small part to the fact that it comes bundled with the system.  Since the Wii was first debuted to the press, Wii Sports has been synonymous with the system, and no story about the Wii appealing to nongamers goes without mentioning Wii Sports.

It's fitting, then, the reveal of the MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote would be backed up with a revisit to the Wii's flagship game.  Wii Sports Resort utilizes the 1:1 control to perfectly mimic your movements within the game to simulate a number of more exacting activities than we saw before.  The events shown include Disc Dog (playing Frisbee catch with man's best friend), Power Jet (sort of like Wave Race with motion controls), and Fencing (which includes practice and duel modes, like Wii Sports Boxing).  In the demonstrations provided by Cammie Dunaway and Reggie Fils-Aime, the controls looked precise and accurate, more so than in the current Wii Sports games.

In some closing statements, Reggie noted that Wii Sports Resort will be packaged with one MotionPlus add-on when it launches worldwide next spring.
