Speaking with Game Informer online, Hudson Entertainment Director of Marketing John Lee hinted that Nintendo is planning a Wii service, separate from Virtual Console, to distribute original downloadable content. When asked if Hudson is considering a new Bonk game or other original titles for Wii's Virtual Console service, Lee responded, "Well, the VC was specifically designed to bring back classic games, not to introduce new content. So to answer your question specifically: No. However, in the future, you should rephrase that question to: Are there any plans to launch original content on some downloadable service on the Wii, and you might get a different answer." Lee also reaffirmed Hudson's fondness of Wii's Virtual Console, saying, "With the number of games we already released for it, and the number we have planned for the future, we are definitely backing Nintendo up on this initiative." The full Game Informer interview - in which Lee discussed the Bomberman franchise, plans for next-gen development and the licensing challenges in bringing classic games to Virtual Console - can be found here. The Wiire will continue to bring you enigmatic comments from Wii developers. |
