Former LucasArts Employee Outlines Company Projects

By Skylar Wilcox / Saturday, 07 June 2008

It seems that LucasArts, developer and publisher of games related to George Lucas's films as well as other original projects, has been going through a period of heavy layoffs and outsourcing lately, and the victims aren't too happy about it.  Kotaku has been getting emails from former staffers eager to get back at the company by spilling what projects they might have worked on if they were still there.  Currently rumored to be in the LucasArts pipeline:
  • Knights of the Old Republic 3 (supposedly an MMO)
  • Star Wars Battlefront 3
  • "The Official Indiana Jones" game (presumably the one demonstrated a while back that emphasized Euphoria physics)
  • "another Lego game based on the Indy universe" (despite the fact that the Lego games' producer was among the employees laid off)
Saving the best for last:
  • "a lightsaber game for the Wii (sorry, no lightsaber peripherals)"
So while it seems that there may in fact be a lightsaber game in the works at LucasArts, you'll be using the Wii Remote by itself, without any fancy shells.  (That's not to say that you couldn't hollow out the light-up saber you had as a kid and stick the Remote in there.)  It's hard to say how good the game could be, though, now that the company has lost so much talent.  We'll just have to wait and see.
