Strikers Producer: Online Games Use Mii Code

By Shawn White / Wednesday, 30 May 2007
Update: The Wiire spoke with Mario Strikers Charged Producer Justin Dowdeswell, who clarified earlier reports about the Mii code system utilized in Mario's first Wii soccer game.

According to Dowdeswell, gamers will still need to exchange friends codes in order to play with acquaintances. Charged will also feature a match-making system for players to find opponents within their region that will not require friend code registration.

As for the Miis, players can use one as their online persona. 10 Miis per Wii system can be employed for online matches in Charged, allowing friends and family members to play with a separate Mii and friends list, but friend code registration will still be necessary for people wanting to play with friends. Matches with friends over the Nintendo WFC will not count towards one's regional ranking, Dowdeswell also stated.

Dowdeswell noted that while he thought the use of Miis served the online system of Charged best, he did not know Nintendo's full plans regarding other Wi-Fi Wii titles. Although a universal friends list saved to a person's Mii might be possible, Dowdeswell mentioned, Nintendo has not spoken of any such plans.

The Wiire will keep you updated on the latest Wii developments.
