Crash Bandicoot Title Confirmed

By Shawn White / Wednesday, 19 July 2006
According to Web site Total Video Games, Vivendi Universal Games is expected to bring a Crash Bandicoot title to Nintendo's next-generation console, Wii, in 2007.

This information apparently came forth at a recent demonstration of Crash Boom Bang, a party game for Nintendo DS. Speaking to Vivendi representatives, TVG reported that aside from mentioning the party mechanics of the Crash Bandicoot DS title would be well-suited for Wii, the third-party publisher confirmed a game starring the orange-furred marsupial would arrive on Wii in some form next year.

Vivendi also confirmed to TVG that Radical Entertainment, the developer behind Crash Tag Team Racing, will remain an important part of Crash Bandicoot's home console future. Radical Entertainment is currently developing an unnamed next-generation title for unspecified platforms. Though as The Wiire reported a number of months ago, the developer at one point had a job listing for a "Revolution" (Wii's then code-name) programmer. When contacted regarding the matter, Radical Entertainment declined to comment.

The TVG article can be found here.

Update: According to IGN Wii's Rumor Roundup article, Vivendi has not confirmed a Crash Bandicoot game for Wii in any capacity, with a Vivendi representative apparently telling IGN that the rumor is "rubbish". For now, readers are asked to take the situation with a grain of salt on both ends. The Wiire will keep you up-to-date.
