Nintendo presented "Wii Prove Our Promise" at the Games Convention at Leipzig, Germany several minutes ago, indicating two (somewhat) new games for the Wii. While Nintendo dedicated the first 40 minutes of "Wii Prove Our Promise" to DS gaming, several dancing men and women with Wii controllers moved on to the stage later on as an introduction to the system's information and demonstration. Nintendo unveiled Super Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii, a soccer game using the characters of the Super Mario franchise. New implementation include Wii controller movements for blocking and special abilities. For example, hands will appear on the screen and the object is to have the controller moved to that precise area in order to block the ball. Depending on success or failure, a short clip will indicate such afterwards. Next up, Batallion Wars 2 was noted to make an appearance at the convention. Following such, Nintendo presented orchestra, Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Red Steel, and other demonstrations from E3 2006 in Los Angeles. Though no information on the Wii launch date or price were available during the presentation, Nintendo promised the date of launch within the next month. The Wiire will keep you updated on the news as it comes out. |
