According to a recent episode of IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, there may be some "hiccups" in Nintendo's MotionPlus development. The panel commented on a rumor that the peripheral's launch date may be pushed past June, the last known release window.
IGN's podcast team pointed out an issue with the device that could stagger many gamers. It seems that after each play session (usually after a single game of fencing, for instance) the peripheral required calibration.
While past Nintendo accessories (such as the Balance Board) required occasional calibration, surely the constant nagging needs of a gyroscope is a bug that Nintendo would like to work out. Hopefully, the interface for calibration will be seamless and quickly intuitive. Currently, the calibration is along the lines of "dipping the controller down" in some fashion, or pointing it at the screen.
To add to the rumor pile, in the same podcast it was noted that Wii Sports Resort is going from 10 games on the disc to 8. Since no official word has been given on what games will be included (or on the validity of these delays to begin with) from Nintendo, consider this news bit a rumor. Kotaku does bring up the point that Wii Sports Resort's disappearance from Nintendo's Spring lineup seems to coincide with this news.
Notably, issues in constant calibration may have caused the recent announcement that The Conduit will not be MotionPlus compatible.
