Okay, I don't make stuff like this up. Remember Christmas? If you celebrate, you probably spent the morning with friends and family, opening gifts, and having a merry time. Or if you're Heath Blom, 26, and Randi Young, 24, of Portsmouth, NH, you're punching each other and dragging each other down the stairs.
The Boston Channel reports that Blom wasn't happy that morning when his girlfriend (Young) gave him a Wii for Christmas. What did he want instead?
"According to Portsmouth police, Blom was disappointed when he did not receive the $1,000 airplane he had asked for from his grandparents"
They began arguing, ending in Young packing her bags to leave the house with the Wii hidden. Blom blocked the door, and things escalated when Young reportedly punched Blom in the face three times, at least once in the eye. What does Blom do in return?
As he notes, "I said ‘That's it.' And I pulled her hair." He didn't just pull her hair, according to Young, though. She claims that "[Blom] dragged [her] down two flights of stairs, by the hair." Blom wanted an RC plane rather than a Wii; enough to drag his girlfriend down two stair sets by the hair?
If there is anything we can learn from this holiday season, it is that the Wii is capable of making boatloads of money, at the expense of pain and despair for some, and unending joy for others.
So in the spirit of the season and this story, I end with this:
Once upon a Christmas morn', a lad had found his heart was torn. When once he thought to see a plane, a Wii he had, his anger rang. Though his lady thought a Wii would win, his heart would grow no size since then. In response to this misgift, it was by her hair that he would lift; Then down two flights of stairs they went, after three punches to the eye she sent. Twas' a Christmas full of Christmas joys, for a brawl was made from waggle toys.
